William "Bill" A. Oliva

Bill was born on August 10, 1937, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Pasquale Oliva and Assunta Verduchi. He graduated from Central High School, where he discovered a lifelong passion for football—proudly playing Nose Tackle (#10, part of the 1957 State Championship team). Bill was also an accomplished boxer and an all-around avid sports fan. He built a career as a machinist at Victor Electric, dedicating himself to his work with the sole priority of providing for his family.

Outside of work, Bill was an exceptionally gifted, self-taught tradesman who mastered woodworking, carpentry, masonry, and nearly any skill that challenged him. He loved yard sales and hunting for antiques, a passion he shared closely with his daughter. Bill was known by all for his unyielding dedication to family, his generous spirit, tireless work ethic, and his endless stream of self-invented corny jokes. In private, Bill had a beautiful singing voice, a gentle love for animals, and a kind sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, who miss him deeply: Dana Oliva, Brian Oliva, and Christina Louise Oliva. He was preceded in death by his parents and his cherished siblings, Robert “Bob” Romano and Shirley Barone.

Bill’s funeral services and burial will be held privately. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered love, support, and kindness during this difficult time.

Though he will be deeply missed, Bill’s strength, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be a blessing and a source of comfort to all whose lives he touched.
