After moving from Puerto Rico to New York City with her family, Carmen made her home on Rutgers Street in Manhattan and attended Seward High School. She later moved to the Bronx, where her life story continued alongside the man who would become her one and only love, Pastor Jusino. Together, they went on to share 64 years of marriage—a lifetime of love, family, and faith.
Carmen was a woman of deep faith who lived that faith through the love, kindness, and care she showed to others. She had a special way of creating family wherever she went, making people feel welcomed, loved, and at home in her presence. It did not take long for those who knew her to lovingly call her “Mama”—a name that reflected the way she cared for so many as if they were her own.
Her family extended far beyond those related to her by blood, and the love she gave so freely will live on in the many lives she touched.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Pastor Jusino, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage; her sons, Michael (Gloria) Jusino, Raymond (Marisa) Jusino, James, and Malik; her daughters, Bernadette (Neville) Baptiste and Tanika; her sisters, Grace Cuebas, Milagros Rivera, and Rosa Pacheco; and her brothers, Miguel Quinones and Fernando Quinones.
She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Nicholas-James, Neville Jr., Angelique-Marie, MaTease, and Savannah, and five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Noa, Esmerelda, Adrian, and D’Angelo.
