Born in England on June 8, 1931, to James and Maud Edwards, Joyce Maud Lange later immigrated to the United States with her beloved husband, Leonid. Together, they built a meaningful life and fulfilled their American dream.
Joyce took great pride in her English heritage. During her time at Montgomery Nursing Home, she especially enjoyed being affectionately known as “The Queen”—a title that suited her perfectly.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Leonid Lange; her daughter, Elena Stewart; and her sister, Peggy Bowen.
She is survived by her “wonderful, grown-up children,” Alex (Kathleen) and Victor (Karen), as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Joyce will be remembered for her love of nature, her English-accented laugh, and her fondness for big, colorful jewelry. Her family will always cherish their memories of her and the loving legacy she leaves behind.
Though she once hoped to live to 103, Joyce was proud to reach 95. In her final hours, she peacefully shared that she was ready to rest eternally with her husband and daughter.
Joyce’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Montgomery Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion for Joyce and all her family, especially in these final months.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home in Washingtonville, NY, where a funeral service will start at 12:00pm. Joyce will be laid to rest beside her husband at Hamptonburgh Cemetery.
