Born on December 18, 1952, in Manhattan, New York City, Louis was the son of Maria Teabar and Louis Vega. He built a life defined by hard work, creativity, kindness, and a genuine love for people and animals.
As a young man, Louis learned the skilled trade of welding, a craft that became both his profession and his passion. He began his career with Amthor's Welding in Walden, New York, where he specialized in truck fabrication and repairs. Later, he proudly established and operated Lou's Mobile Welding & Fabrication for sixteen years, providing welding, fabrication, and repair services throughout the community. His talent extended beyond practical craftsmanship; he found joy in transforming metal into beautiful works of art, creating everything from delicate flowers and decorative tables to unique ornamental pieces.
In recent years, Louis worked at Hennessey Liquor in Washingtonville, New York, where his friendly personality and sense of humor earned him many cherished friends.
Louis had an extraordinary love for animals and devoted countless hours to their care and well-being. He also enjoyed sports, especially cheering for the New York Giants, following tennis and boxing, fishing, spending time in nature, and traveling to beautiful places. His adventurous spirit, warm heart, and infectious laughter brought happiness to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all, Louis treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Gloria Vega; his son, Louis Vega Jr. of Asheville, North Carolina; and his smart, kind grandson, Louie.
His presence enriched the lives of many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.
