William John Carroll Jr.

William John Carroll, Jr., of Washingtonville, New York, passed away on August 3, 2026, in the Bronx, New York. He was born on September 18, 1958 in Syracuse, New York, to the late William John Carroll, Sr. and Patricia (Condon) Carroll.

Bill built a successful career as the Director of Northeast Operations for IAC Appraisal, where he was respected for his dedication, knowledge, and unwavering work ethic.

On May 10, 1986, Bill married, Patricia Gregory. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bill found his greatest joy in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Carroll; his son, William J. Carroll III and his wife, Jessica; his daughter, Colleen Carroll and her husband, Brian Sosa; and his cherished grandson, Asher Sosa, who brought immeasurable happiness to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Doro and Mary Pat Carroll; his extended family, the Albany Crowd, who he cherished; as well as several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Bill was happiest at home. A true homebody, he took great pride in caring for and fixing his house, always proud of his innovation with tie wraps and duct tape. A true master in using YouTube as his backup to fix anything that broke from household items to cars. You could always count on him to help you fix anything. He was never afraid to take anything apart.

An important part of Bill's life was his commitment to AA. Through the fellowship and principles of the program, he found strength, purpose, and lasting friendships. His journey inspired many, and he was grateful for the support and community that AA provided throughout his life.

Outside of work and home, Bill had an incredible passion for movies. He was a devoted fan of B-movies, especially the science fiction and cult classics of the 1970s and 1980s. Whether it was a low-budget sci-fi adventure or a delightfully over-the-top film like Sharknado, Bill embraced them with enthusiasm and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved discussing films with his family and had an impressive knowledge of pop culture, often surprising those around him with his familiarity with television shows like Charmed and countless other cinematic gems.

His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
