Janice E. Ware, 80

Winslow – Janice E. Ware, 80, of Winslow, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 26, 2018. She was born in Waterville on July 1, 1938, the only child of Maxine (Thompson) and Frank Abbott. She attended local schools and graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1958.

Jan first worked at Dunham’s of Maine where she would the love of her life, Gerald Ware, who had the good sense to marry and together they would have three children. Jan later became a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked at Lakewood Nursing Home and Volmer’s in Vassalboro. Her true claim to fame was as a wife, mother and grandmother and being a home maker.

In her “spare” time Jan enjoyed ceramics, camping, fishing and an awesome knitter who loved to give away scarves and mittens to family, friends and neighbors. She was an excellent cook with baking her specialty and made outstanding whoopie pies. She will be remembered for many fine qualities such as a strong opinion, keeping a clean home and having energy that was above most of those around her. Most of all, she will be remembered for her love of family – Jerry, her children and her grandchildren.

Jan is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gerald Ware of Winslow; her three children: Robin Couture and fiancé Blaine Ellis of Winslow; David Ware and fiancée Cindi Grant of Winslow; Lori Poirier of Fairfield; her grandchildren: Christopher Couture of Lewiston; Nicholas Couture and his wife Lacy of Oakland; Trisha Ware of Palermo; Nathan Feix of Fairfield; her great-grandchildren: Leah Couture, Serenity and Anika Couture; Kaydence Ware; Alexis Harding; McKenzie George; Owen and Kamdyn Couture. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Kara Michaud.
