Waterville - Joseph Louis Robert LaBrie Sr. passed away peacefully on May 7, 2018 at the ME Vets Home in Augusta. Joseph was born in Waterville on March 28, 1940 to Martha (Dumais) and Emile LaBrie. Known to family and friends as “Bob”, he married the love of his life, Nancy Gallagher in 1960. Together they raised four children. Bob served his country proudly in the Air National Guard from 1957-1959 and then served in the US Army from 1959-1962. He worked for Scott Paper until their closing and then retired from Colby College.
Bob was an avid bowler, softball player and a member of the Lions Club, VFW and American Legion. He loved watching the Patriots and Red Sox but more than that he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play school sports. Bob loved to travel and provided the opportunity for his family to visit several places all over the country. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy; his children: Joseph LaBrie Jr. and wife Bonnie; Martha Spaulding and husband Tim; Allison Campbell and husband Michael; Kevin LaBrie and wife Robin; his grandchildren: Michael, Sarah, Brandon V, Amanda, Courtney, Christopher, Brandon L., Amber, Hunter, Ashley, Dustin and Kayla. He is also survived by 12 great- grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Bob was predeceased by his parents, his brother Peter, and infant daughter Trudi.
Bob’s family would like to say a special thank you to all the nurses, CNAs and hospice workers at the ME Vets Home. You all took such great care of him.
