Ben is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peg Barghahn; sons Paul (Mary) Barghahn and Matt (Shannon) Barghahn; daughter, Laura Barghahn Webster; grandchildren Stormy Johnson, Cameron Barghahn, Claire Barghahn, and Jade Barghahn. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and June Barghahn; and brother, Randy (Peggy) Barghahn.
During their marriage, Ben and Peg enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada. They especially enjoyed hiking and visited many of the National Parks. Ben also enjoyed fishing, golfing with his friends at Mullenhurst Golf Course, and playing bridge every Tuesday afternoon with Dorothy, Rose, and Ann. He always looked forward to his weekly “board meetings” with his good friend, Jeff.
Ben cherished his time with his grandchildren, whether it be teaching them to fish, attending their various activities, or just hanging out with them. He was so very proud of all their accomplishments both in school and in their lives. He loved having them at his home on Cobb Lake for celebrations and family gatherings.
During his career, Ben worked for both Honeywell and Thermotron as a field service technician. He traveled extensively for his work and formed many enjoyable relationships with his customers and coworkers. Some of these relationships would develop into lifelong friendships.
Ben was an active member of the United Church of Wayland for many years and most recently was attending Crosswind Community Church in Dorr. He could often be found in the kitchen preparing and serving coffee.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., at Kubiak Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main Street, Wayland, Michigan 49348.
