Betty Mae (Whitmore) Szymanski

Betty Mae (Whitmore) Szymanski, age 84, of Wayland, formerly of Newaygo and Comstock Park, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, June 14, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Szymanski, her brother, Jack Whitmore, her grandson, Robert Szymanski and her parents Marion and Ernest Whitmore. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Edward (Gloria) Szymanski, Thomas (Arlene) Szymanski, Janine (Ralf) Holloman; her six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and her sisters-in-law, Gloria Whitmore and Josette Symanski. Betty and Ed were members of the Newaygo VFW. She was also a member of the State Employees Retiree Association and West Michigan Rosarians. Betty worked for over 20 years as a Lab Technician for the State of Michigan. She loved to read and often read a novel a day. Betty also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. A time for relatives and friends to visit with Betty's family will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday, June 22, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Wayland, 312 N. Main St. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Monday, June 23, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 159 - 131st Ave. in Wayland. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Grand Rapids. In honor of Betty, contributions may be made to LAM Foundation or Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
