Cara Matthews, of Hopkins, age 51, loving wife and mother, died on June, 14, 2013. Cara relished life in her country home. She spent sunrise to sundown outside gardening and biking. She was an avid reader, film watcher and loved to crochet. Cara was preceded in death by her father, Roy Baker of Cincinnati. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 28 years, Al Matthews; her children, Anna and Samuel of Hopkins; her sisters, Patti (Mark) Sanitate of Washington, MI and Lucynda (Mike) Vigneaux of Soo, MI; and her mother, Eva Baker of the Soo. Cara was a parishioner at St. Therese Catholic Church of Wayland, MI where she also helped tend the gardens. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, June 19, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Wayland, 128 Cedar St., Fr. Christian Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Dorr, 4330 18th St. with a prayer service beginning at 2 PM Tuesday. In honor of Cara, contributions may be made to Henika District Library in Wayland.
