

Clara Rewa, 88, last of 10 children born to Artimus and Clara Hill, died Thursday, March 6, at Allegan County Medical Care Community where she had been well cared for the last six years. She was predeceased by her husband Francis, son-in-law Christopher Althouse, granddaughter Jessica Pavlak, her own siblings, and many in-laws. She leaves in loving memory her children Pat (Marcia) Rewa, Mary Frances Rewa, Don (Cathy) Rewa, Katie (Ron) Weber, C.Lee (Mike) Pavlak, Nick Rewa, Charlie (Carrie Stoehr) Rewa, Marty (Mary) Rewa, Helene (Dan) McNeilly, Therese C . (Mark) Lamport, and special family friends Kraig & Denise Stephenson. She has 29 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren with another on the way. She is also survived by loving sisters-in law Dympna Brown, Florence Squire, Margaret Heibel, Irma Rose Weber, Agnes Lenhart, Alyce (Felipe) Martinez, Gabriella Rewa, brother-in-law Garnet Lain, and many nieces and nephews, friends, cousins, neighbors and shepherd priest Rev. Stephen Rodrigo. A recent bible verse she memorized was Romans 8:38: "I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love... " Clare was a registered nurse and valued both Catholic and higher education for all her children. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Visitation Church after leaving her city life in Lowell to marry Francis and move to the country in the Dorr area. She enjoyed gardening, birdfeeding, harvesting black walnuts, flowers and flower seeds. She was a passionate Tigers fan since she was a teenager and more recently became an avid MSU Men's Basketball fan. Clare was known for her love of the Holy Family and collecting Nativities. The family is grateful to the staff of ACMCC. She enjoyed the activities, therapy, many friends and caregivers including her granddaughter Jen Poppema. Her family will greet friends and relatives 4-7 P.M. Sunday at Kubiak-Cook Family Services, 4330 18th Street, Dorr, MI 49323, with a Rosary at 7 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 A.M. Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Mary's Visitation Catholic Church with Father Stephen J. Rodrigo, presiding. Interment will be at St. Mary's-New Salem Cemetery.
