Fred was born in 1946 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to Elmer and Sophie (Batiuk) Green. He spent most of his childhood growing up in the suburbs of Detroit.
Fred graduated from Western Michigan University, where he met the love of his life, Lynne Ann (GeBott), in a bowling class. The two were married on August 17, 1968, and soon made their home in Wayland, Michigan. Both Fred and Lynne dedicated their careers to education at Wayland Public Schools. Fred taught at Wayland High School for 34 years, sharing his knowledge of typing, business, and accounting with generations of students.
Fred and Lynne were blessed with two children, Stacey (Lee) Merren and Darren (Calley) Green, who survive him. During their retirement, Fred and Lynne enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and pursuing one of Fred's greatest passions, golf. An avid golfer throughout much of his life, Fred participated in numerous golf leagues over the years and treasured the friendships, competition, and countless hours spent on the course. Whether playing a casual round with friends or competing in league play, golf brought him immense joy and remained one of his favorite pastimes.
One of the greatest joys of Fred's life was his grandchildren. In order of age, they are Chase Wagner, Brynn Wagner, Alec Green, Ella Green, Jack Merren, Blake Merren, Brooke Merren, and Cooper Green. Fred adored each of his grandchildren, and they loved him dearly in return.
Fred is also survived by his brother, Blake (Lee) Green; sisters Gail (Rodney) Sanchez and Darcy Peterson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who hold many fond memories of him.
