

It is with profound love and deep sorrow we announce the passing of Helen Darlene Rac, who went home peacefully January 19, 2026, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Ruby Martin; husband of 36 years, William Rac; siblings Judy Button and Theron Martin; granddaughter, Lexy Purdum. She is survived by her children Willard Button (Cindy Carter), Valerie (Lincoln) Messer, Thomas (Connie) Button, Rhonda (Chuck) Kukulis; grandchildren Nicholas (Ashley) Button, Mitchell Button, Zachary Button, Clay (Karinne) Purdum, Kyle (Cassie) Purdum, Trevor Tormoen, Chad Tormoen, Lauren (Tyler) Peterson, Trenton (Molly) Messer, Steven (Megan) Kukulis, Kelsey Kukulis; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Cleon Martin, Leon (Carol) Martin, James Martin, Marilyn (Jack) Cody, Sharon Curry, Carol Messer, and Gary (Marilyn) Martin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Darlene was an amazing person, loved by so many family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Her warmth, generosity, and compassion left a lasting impression on every life she touched. Her legacy lives on in the values she passed down, the memories she created, and the love that will forever bind her family together. She was the heart of her family, a wonderful mother, a cherished grandmother, a proud great-grandmother, and a loving sister. Her life was defined by unconditional love, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to those she held dear. To know Darlene was to feel comforted, accepted, and truly loved. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service., at Martin United Methodist Church, 969 E. Allegan St., Martin, Michigan 49070. In honor of Helen and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Centrica Care Navigators.
