Jo Ann Carpenter

Jo Ann Carpenter (Brand), age 66 of Wyoming and formerly of Wayland, received her wings on April 23, 2025. Jo Ann resided in Wyoming. She and her husband were raised in Wayland and married in Wayland City Park in the gazebo.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents Josephine and Rosual (Andy) Brand, and her twin brother, Raymond Brand.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Carpenter; sister, Dottie Matthews (Dorian Holcomb) of Michigan; brothers Bill (Carol) of Florida and Tom (Martha) of Michigan; seven kids; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

During Jo Ann's life, she had many hometown friends, and through her life's journey, made many, many more. She is being remembered for her laughter, jokes, and willingness to always put a smile on anyone's face who crossed her path. Jo Ann knew no strangers. She was always the bright light carrying hope for her family and friends. Whether she was being silly or serious, she was always sincere. Jo Ann volunteered for many years at the Wayland VFW Post and worked with the veterans.

Jo Ann's faith in our Lord was very strong, and her love for God, family, and others' happiness was endless. Jo Ann would give anything she had to anyone in need, even if it was a prayer.

Jo Ann is deeply missed and loved by many. She will never be forgotten and will always live in our memories and hearts.

A celebration of Jo Ann’s life will be held from 1-5 p.m. on May 24, 2025 at the Wayland VFW Post 7581, 735 S. Main St., Wayland, MI 49348. In memory of Jo Ann and in lieu of flowers, donations are requested to assist the family with final expenses.
