Lila, 12.29.1936 - 06.24.2026, was born to Clayton and Ethel Mae Warner of Otsego Michigan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn G. Rake; infant grandson, Jerry Rake; granddaughter, Valerie Jones; father, Clayton Warner; mother, Ethel Mae Warner; and sisters MaryLou Kelley, Irene Buckmaster, Lorena (Rene) Seekman, Ginger Hughes; and brother, Clayton (Bud) Warner.
Lila, affectionately called Riley by some family and friends, married Lynn Rake at the age of 15. Story has it, her first grocery shopping trip consisted of a bag of jelly BEANS, other assorted treats, and two pork chops. She was definitely a child bride, and she really loved her candy.
They were happily married for 66 years and had four children Luann (Bruce) Witherell, Lynn Ann (Scott) Pierce, Lorie (Dave) Stawiszynski, and Lonnie (Deb) Rake; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Lila was a very talented lady. She was a great seamstress, making everything from Barbie and baby doll clothes, to wedding dresses, and bridesmaid dresses. She also baked and decorated beautiful wedding, and special occasion cakes.
Saying Lila had a love for dolls is an understatement. Later in life, she bought a couple kilns, along with a collection of molds, and followed her heart. She taught the art of making porcelain dolls to others, and opened her very own doll hospital, (yes, it is a thing); broken dolls needed love too.
Empty nest syndrome? That was never an issue, after the family grew up and left home, they decided to go into foster care, fostering many children, winning an award for Foster Parent of the Year.
Lila had a love for music, playing the organ, piano, and dulcimer. She also taught piano.
Most importantly, she loved the Lord, and there is no doubt that she is smiling and rejoicing in Heaven with Lynn--no more sickness, anxiety, and loneliness for everyone who went on before her.
Lila was loved and admired by everyone who met her. Her extremely generous and witty nature will be greatly missed. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.kubiakcookwayland.com in their online guestbook.
