OBITUARY
Lillian Jager
December 31, 1933 – December 10, 2020
Lillian Jager (Burian) of Hopkins, MI, loving mother and grandmother, left her earthly home in the early morning hours of Dec 10, 2020, to be reunited with her husband of over 50 years, Leonard (Bud) Jager, and most importantly, with Jesus.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Jager; son, Mark Jager; daughter-in-law, Cathy Jager; and son-in-law, Timothy Walters. She and Leonard adopted seven children, of whom remain, Clyde Jager, Terry Jager, Dana (Jason) Ward, Sara (Gary) Parsons, Bonnie Drury (Jager), and Beverly Walters (Jager). She leaves behind 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Lillian came from a family of 17, of which two brothers remain, Wayne (Rose) Burian and Mike (Jan) Burian. Lillian worked many years for both Smith Lumber and Hoeksema Hardware, helping many find their way with nuts and bolts. She was well known and liked by the people she met. She was very caring and nurturing; in fact, she was often helping the aides care for others in her assisted living home while she had dementia. Her house was always neat and tidy and she was often found cleaning or folding towels in the assisted living home. She was a fabulous cook and no one ever left her house without having a little something to eat. When she wasn't inside cooking or baking, she could be found outside working in her beautiful flower gardens from sun up to sun down. She was an extremely hard worker and could work circles around almost everyone else. We were blessed to bring Mom back home for her final days. She will be sadly missed by so many but we are thankful she has received her reward for a life well lived. Surely when Jesus met her he said, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A private family service was held at Maplewood Cemetery on Friday, December 11, 2020.
In honor of Lillian, contributions may be made to Bethany Christian Services. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.kubiakcookwayland.com.

My heart goes out to all of you ! I just lost my Mother this past November and can imagine the ache in your hearts! I had the great pleasure of getting to know and love Lil when we worked together as nurses aids at Sandy Creek, in Wayland. I have many fond memories of those days. She was a great person to work with—dedicated to taking good care of our residents while having the ability to make our work fun. I have a painting (a winter scene) she painted for me, when I graduated from my LPN training, which I treasure! 🙏 for your family , Rita

So sorry to hear of Lillian's passing. I remember her as a hard worker who was always in a good mood and always had a smile on her face. She was very loyal to my parents at the hardware store and would look out for everyone that worked there. She usually just referred to me as the kid :). I remember the joy and pride she felt when she would talk about her children, Bud and her gardens. She was a kind and gentle person who will be missed. Everyone in Lil's family has my deepest sympathy.

You are in our thoughts and prayers Sara, along with the rest of your family. Your mom was always so pleasant to talk to at Hoeksema Hardware. She was like a second mom to our daughter Sheri. She also crocheted all of the Christmas Stockings for all of our grandchildren which they still use today. She will be missed.

I remember Lillian the most for her beautiful Irises that surrounded her yard. She would work diligently in the garden tending to their special needs during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. She was very knowledgeable about various plants and flowers, and was very helpful when I couldn't grow my morning glories. She shared with me how to stake them and give them a start.
I also remember when I first moved into my home and she came over and helped me paint my bedroom. I was so impressed that she would do this.
I send my condolences to the family who will miss her presence the most. She had much to be thankful for, her family took such good care of her in her last years. She was blessed to pass away peacefully in her home.
Goodbye, Lillian,
Laura
