Raymond “Ray” Bronkhorst, age 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 12, 2025, while surrounded by family. Ray loved spending time outdoors in God’s creation, from hobby farming, hunting, and cutting wood (every single day!). He worked at both Smith Lumber and Coal and Rockwell International for a number of years. He served his country in the United States Army. Ray deeply loved and cherished his family; he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Pearl (nee Lodenstein) Bronkhorst; three children Jan (Rick) Dorothy, Jerry (Mary) Bronkhorst, Dan (Trudy) Bronkhorst; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Katherine Bronkhorst; siblings John Bronkhorst, Mary Burbank, and Jim Bronkhorst.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025 at Wayland Christian Reformed Church, 303 E. Elm St., Wayland, MI 49348, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Ray will be laid to rest at Hicks Cemetery in Watson Township, MI. In memory of Ray and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Hope of Dorr and Christian Neighbors of Wayland. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.kubiakcookwayland.com in their online guestbook.
