Ron was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, and most recently, leukemia. His spirit was strong, but his body was getting weak. He was a fighter and was looking forward to hunting one way or another; unfortunately, his next hunting and fishing trip will be in Heaven.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Pattok, the love of his life. The two shared more than 40 years together. They married on June 3, 1995 in an outdoor ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Their love was strong, steady, and filled with laughter. In her wedding vows, Patricia promised to love him “through all seasons, including hunting and fishing” – a reflection of both Ron’s passions and the deep devotion they shared. Ron is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Freda and Paul Robinson; brothers Bob Garvon, Tom Garvon; and many nieces and nephews from both the Garvon and Pattok families. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters Peggy, Nancy, Donna, Marie; and his mother-in-law, Anna Pattok.
At an early age, Ron learned the skills of an auto body painter and excelled at the trade. He dedicated his life to this trade, taking pride in every project and earning the respect of many. He also loved bringing joy to the children in our family, dressing up as Santa Claus each year and making Christmas magical for the little ones. Ron found his greatest joy with Patricia by his side, but he was a true outdoorsman. He felt his greatest joys and deepest peace in the quiet patience of fishing and the solemn anticipation of the hunt. Ron had a close group of friends that he fished and hunted with for many years, and they will miss him deeply. Being outdoors, whether in the woods or on the water, was where he felt most alive. Ron was also a member of the Polish Jackson Street Hall and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Though he was not outwardly religious, those who loved him take comfort in imagining him at peace in Heaven, with the same quiet strength and loyalty that defined his life. Ron will be remembered for his hard work, his love of the outdoors, his playful spirit, and above all, the deep love he carried for his wife, family, and friends. He will be profoundly missed until we meet again. As Ron would say, “Friends to the end.”
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services (Wayland Chapel), 312 N. Main St., Wayland, MI 49348. In memory of Ron and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Wild Turkey Federation, Jackson Street Hall, Paws With a Cause, or a cancer or leukemia foundation of one’s choosing.
