Ward “Bud” Haner Jr. passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025. He was born on October 12, 1946, and proudly served in the United States Navy, where he was stationed on three different ships during his years of service.
Bud was preceded in death by his father, Ward Haner Sr.; his mother, Eva Haner; sisters Becky Young and Pam Linderman; ex-wife, Carole Haner; and brother-in-law, Tom Martin.
He is survived by his sister, Cathey Martin; four children David Haner, Shelly Haner, Dan (Amy) Haner, and Ben Haner; grandchildren Nikki (Clint) Carver, Liliana, and Landen Haner; and great-grandchildren Kyson and Colt Carver. He also leaves behind his longtime girlfriend, Julie Coller, who was a cherished part of his life.
To many, he was simply “Bud.” He was a natural storyteller who loved to share tales of his time in the Navy—especially his years aboard the USS Forrestal—and of his family, of whom he was endlessly proud. Bud was also a talented builder who took great pride in constructing his own home for his family, a lasting symbol of his dedication and hard work. He will be remembered for his craftsmanship, humor, and the countless stories he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Veterans Home or the Wounded Warrior Project in Bud’s honor. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.kubiakcookwayland.com in their online guest book.
