Charles Dennison Grimes, (98) of Waynesburg, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on July 28, 2026 where he was reunited with his parents, children, and brother. Charles was born February 16, 1928 on the Grimes’ family farm in Lippencott to Ernest and Ethel Grimes. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lippencott where he previously served as Deacon. Charles enlisted in the Air Force and attained Airman First Class. After serving in the Air Force, Charles became a licensed pilot. He retired from Jefferson Morgan School District after 34 years. Charles enjoyed aviation, deer hunting, and motorcycles.
Charles is survived by his four grandchildren: C. J. Grimes, Jennifer Withrow & her husband Jason (all of Waynesburg), Bethany Morris of Delaware and David Morris of Florida. Six great-grandchildren: Larkyn Grimes, Harper Grimes, Joe Withrow, Jaira Withrow, Adriana and Nicolas Morris. Charles is also survived by his daughter-in-law Connie Grimes of Waynesburg, sister-in-law Wahneita Grimes of Waynesburg, nephew Kevin Grimes of South Carolina, and his first wife Freda Pyle of Waynesburg.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his son Ernie Grimes who passed in 2017 and his daughter Charlotte Morris who passed in 2018. Also deceased are his second wife Betty Holmes Grimes and his brother Richard Grimes.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Monday, August 3 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM and the funeral service on Tuesday, August 4 at 11 AM at Behm Funeral Home, 182 W. High St., Waynesburg, PA 15370; burial to follow at Greene County Memorial Park.
