Connie S. Cushman

Connie S. McMasters Cushman of Waynesburg, PA, entered her eternal rest and peace, now in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, during the early hours of Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at home with family by her side, after a long, brave, and courageous battle with cancer. She was 81 years old. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Connie was born on October 19, 1944, in Brave, PA to the late Maude E. Nagg. She graduated from Jefferson High School.

Connie devoted many years raising a blended family. She retired from Flushing Shirt Factory in Waynesburg after many years sewing military uniform shirts. She put in long, sweaty hours over a machine, but she did it proudly and was a dependable and faithful employee. She was loved by her co-workers.

She was a quiet and gentle soul who worked hard to help provide for her family. She was wise and would guide in that way. If you asked her a question about an issue you were having, she would have advice or she would say, “I don’t know, Hun” and leave you to ponder the answer. Calling you “Hun” was a term of endearment. She had a sense of humor that would catch you off guard. Sometimes…she may have forgotten how to spell your name..lol. Connie loved to collect Nik-naks and snow globes. She also liked to go fishing and red volkswagons too. She lived a simple life with simple things. She did not have much, but she gave anyway.

Her home was her safe space and that is where she took her final breath. She knew what she wanted and was granted her wishes.

Above all, Connie loved her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren dearly regardless of the miles between them.

Connie is survived by her children; GySGT Gary Kalist, USMC (Ret.) (Colleen)of Louisiana, Pamela (Dan) Woods of Washington PA, and Andrew A, Bub, (Hayley) Morris III, who served in the US Army, of Aleppo, PA. Also surviving are her former spouse and children; Andrew A. Morris, Jr, Andrew D. (Arlene) Morris, Vickie (Bob) Robinson, Special 4 US Army:Georgia (Jose’)Sostre, along with many beloved grand and great grandchildren who brought her much joy.

She is also survived by her spunky sister, Marie McMasters, whom Connie loved deeply, who always brought her laughter, and special nieces and nephews whom she also dearly loved.

The family would like to give heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Amedisys Hospice Care who were available 24 hours a day to answer all our questions and sometimes came more than once a day, tirelessly and selflessly, to help guide us in the care for our mom.

Mom was a gentle light in this world who preferred to stay in the background rather than be in the spotlight. A memorial and celebration of life will be announced soon.

Mom, we miss you, we love you, and we know you are in Heaven at peace. Until we meet again. “Love You Bunches” XOXOXO.
