Dorothy Lois Roberts, 89, of Washington, Pennsylvania, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2016. The daughter of the late Ernest and Viola Martin, she was born on August 14, 1926, in Washington, PA.
She lived in Beaver, PA for more than 60 years, where she and husband, Frank, of 62 years raised two daughters. Frank and Dorothy moved to Strabane Trails Village retirement community in Washington, PA nearly five years ago, but they never forgot their wonderful friends and lasting memories of Beaver.
Dorothy loved Beaver and was a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver, as well as a member of the Beaver Tusca Ridge Garden Club for 35 years, and a Girl Scout leader of Troop 7 for seven years.
She loved the ocean and enjoyed traveling, playing cards, movies, golf, and reading and was especially fond of Thursday night Tripoli games with her friends at Strabane Trails. Known for her sense of humor and affection for breaking the rules, Dorothy will always be remembered sitting on her porch telling stories of growing up on Horns Row in Washington, of World War II, being part of the large loving Roberts family. During summer vacations, her granddaughters quickly learned that one never uttered the words, “I can’t,” in her house, and they will forever cherish the memories of the adventures that ensued in the absence of that phrase. She often recounted her own adventures, expressing how blessed she was to have visited so many places and to have met so many interesting people from all over the world.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters Mrs. Joseph (Rebecca) Korosec of Weirton, WV, and Mrs. Herbert (Mary) Thompson of Waynesburg, PA, and her four granddaughters, Lissa Dulick and Emily Korosec of Weirton, WV, Mrs. Ross (Michelle) Philips of Cecil, PA, and Mrs. Jesse (Jessica) Harrison of Spraggs, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
