Alice Kathryn Woodfin

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Sr., to whom she was married for 59 years.

Kathryn, known as Katie by family, grew up in Florida and Georgia, graduating from Valdosta High School in 1958. She met and married the love of her life, Scott Sr., who was in pilot training at Moody AFB, after her first year at Valdosta State College. His first assignment was in San Francisco, California. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1964 with a BA degree in English and Spanish, and taught school in Lubbock, Texas before Scott was transferred to Hickam AFB Hawaii.

While in Hawaii, the young couple started their family. They were blessed with two sons two years apart before Scott was reassigned to Saigon, Vietnam for a one-year tour of duty. Katie took time for raising their sons before returning to teaching.

During her free time, she was always getting higher education and involved in many projects. She earned her MA in English and American Literature in 1978 and her MS in Educational leadership in 1988. She was on the Dean's Honor List in 1978, and The Distinguished Class graduate in 1988. She was Department Head at Clear Lake Intermediate School and an English teacher; later she became Assistant Principal at Ball High School in Galveston, Texas. This position was followed with Principal at Ed White High School in League City and faculty instructor at San Jac College. After retirement Kathryn earned her realtor license and worked in real estate until Harvey flooded the family home in 2017.

Kathryn loved all animals and certified her acreage in Friendswood as a Wildlife Habitat. She contributed to charities that served dogs, cats, donkeys, horses, elephants and more because she wanted to help stop abuse of animals. Her current passion was for horses and the widespread abuse of pregnant mares and their young, plus slaughter.

Kathryn was an active volunteer. She worked with Heritage Gardeners of Friendswood from 2012; she served two years as the caretaker of the front gardens at the USPO in Friendswood; the Clear Lake Intermediate School PTA chose her for distinguished teacher for 1996. Gardening was her passion, and she enjoyed helping to beautify wherever needed. She polished stones and weeded all the beds at the front entrance to Polly Ranch Estates and her love beautiful flowers is evidenced by the gorgeous blooms proliferating her own yard in Polly Ranch.

Katie would like to be remembered as someone who loved the Lord, her family and her friends here on earth. She wanted to make things nicer everywhere she went and encouraged her students to do the same and always continue to learn, and never stop growing. She looked forward to her heavenly home, but will miss the people who were so special to her. Kathryn had a heart for animals and children hurting. A few of her favorite charities are: Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue, Dream Chaser (Stop foal torture for premarin), Tiger Haven, Mark Meyer's Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, St. Joseph's Indian School, and Carter Reservoir Wild Mustangs.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, US, on July 30, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will take place at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, US, on July 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:45 am.
