It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ann, who left this world on January 25, 2025 after a courageous year-long fight battling a glioblastoma brain tumor. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Ann was born on May 18, 1962, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas, the fourth daughter of Frank and Jane Williamson. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, David Frank; son Ryan (Andrea); and cherished grandchildren Arden and James.
Ann was a woman of extraordinary character, whose life radiated kindness, faith, and selflessness. As a dedicated educator, she spent countless years nurturing young minds and inspiring her students to dream beyond their limits. Her classroom was a sanctuary of encouragement and growth, and her passion for teaching left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Ann touched the lives of many through her years in GISD, teaching at L.A. Morgan and Oppe Elementary, and Hyde Elementary in CCISD.
Ann attended Island Elementary, Weis Middle, and O’Connell High School. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, with a degree in elementary education in 1984. Ann was a Longhorn fan through and through.
To those who knew her, Ann was witty, thoughtful, and endlessly generous. Her compassionate heart and ability to see the best in others were hallmarks of her remarkable spirit. She consistently gave her time, energy, and love to anyone in need, embodying the essence of altruism in every aspect of her life.
Ann had a zest for life that shone brightly in her passions and hobbies. She had a green thumb and found great joy in gardening, cultivating beautiful flowers and plants that brought peace and beauty to her surroundings. She loved watching the hummingbirds and cardinals that frequented her backyard, finding comfort in their visits. Ann particularly enjoyed her bird cam, which would alert her to which birds were feeding, adding a sense of wonder and connection to nature. She also loved spending time with friends and family playing cards, Mahjong, and attending her book club. Ann was an avid fan of the Houston Astros, cheering them on with excitement and pride.
Throughout her journey, she was blessed to be surrounded by an incredible support system. Her husband, David, was her rock and steadfast caregiver, offering boundless love and strength through every challenge. Alongside him, her devoted sisters stepped in as tireless caretakers, providing comfort, care, and unwavering support.
More than anything, Ann was the heart of her family. She was a cherished wife, devoted daughter, a loving sister, an incredible Maw Maw, Neen, and an amazing aunt. She was the best Maw Maw for her grandchildren, always planning special breakfasts, fun activities, and thoughtful things to make every moment of their visits memorable and filled with joy. She played an instrumental role in raising and caring for her nieces and nephews, always offering a nurturing presence and unconditional love. She took great delight in buying gifts for her great-nieces and great-nephews, ensuring they always felt special and cherished.
Ann was preceded in death by her father, Frank Pieri Williamson; grandparents, R.P. Williamson Jr. and Odette Pieri Williamson, and Marvin and Dorothy Hawkins, all of Galveston, Texas.
