Antony “Tony” Robert Ma of Sugarland, Texas, died unexpectedly on Wednesday July 31, 2019 at the age of 35. He was born on July 13, 1984 in Webster, Texas to David Ma and Patty Horng. He was married to Kim Lam and they enjoyed playing Pokemon Go at the park with their three dogs: Spock, Buddy and Chewy.
Tony worked as an IT Professional for the past sixteen years at the University of Houston, where he also attended school. When he wasn’t repairing computers, you could find him on campus – bowling and playing arcades at the University Center where he met many of his lifelong friends, or at the University Recreation Center where he loved playing basketball. Tony had a passion for basketball, organizing several championship teams in leagues and acting as the catalyst for weekly pick-up games. Tony had recently gone back to school at the University of Houston Sugarland to pursue a degree in Computer Information System.
Outside of campus, Tony’s favorite past time was singing karaoke alongside friends at Genji. He was an excellent singer, often serenading everyone lucky to be around that night. A local foodie, Tony was always exploring the newest restaurants around town and known as a go-to for good food and drink recommendations.
All who were fortunate enough to know him agree that Tony had the purest and most genuine heart – ever willing to selflessly help anyone at a moment’s notice. Always smiling and always joking, Tony’s positivity was contagious; his laughter infectious. He is the glue that bonded so many people together. His love and support for his friends were endless and will leave a lasting impression.
Antony was preceded in death by his grandfather, C. P. Ma.
