OBITUARY

Audeen Wheeler

May 8, 1928July 8, 2018

Audeen was born in Jackson, Mississippi on May 8, 1928 to Samuel and Hattie Hood Butler. She graduated from Sweeny High School where she was voted “Most Beautiful” her senior year. When Audeen moved to Dallas, she met Garland Ray Wheeler. Together, they ran a bowling alley and were avid square dancers. As parents, they raised three amazing and grateful daughters in Houston, Texas. Audeen loved singing and was a faithful member of the church of Christ. To many, Audeen was known simply as “Granny,” but she was so much more. She was a devoted wife, sheltering mother, loving sister, unbelievable Granny, loyal friend, music lover, artist, party host for young and old alike, babysitter, fantastic gardener, bookkeeper, car pool driver, short-order cook, encourager, bird watcher, collector, and an avid lover of children and Blue Bell ice cream… all this with the heart of a servant. Audeen will be greatly missed, but her loving and compassionate heart will most certainly live on in her daughters and their children and their childrens’ children for many years to come.

Audeen was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Garland Ray Wheeler; sisters, Flora Anderson and Geneva Bass; and her brother, Bobby Butler. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters and their devoted husbands: Janet and Tuffy Williams; Dianne and Larry Armer; Nancy and Larry Stephens; inspiring grandchildren: Alyssa Williams, Tim and Jamie Williams, Kelly and Jamie King, Kerri and James Horn, Larry Stephens, Penny and Billy Farris, Steven and Cate Stephens; precious great grandchildren: Jalynn Williams, Kennedy Williams, Kale King, Kolin King, Aaron Benavides, Halley and Austin Scott, Hannah Horn, Layne Farris, Rhea Anna Farris, Jack Stephens, Ellie Stephens; brother and sister-in-law: Jim and Melba Butler; sister-in-law: Ann Butler; many loving nieces and nephews; and a beautiful group of dear friends.
