Bernard spent his working life as a truck driver for Yellow Corporation/Freight, a steady calling that reflected the generous, others-first way he moved through the world. A proud Navy veteran, he carried his love of country with quiet dignity, and he will be remembered as a giving man with a big heart—offering kindness not only to family and friends, but also to neighbors and even strangers.
Bernard found joy in swimming, jogging, and watching comedy shows—simple pleasures that kept his days bright and his spirit lifted. In the ways that mattered most, he showed care through presence, warmth, and a deep-rooted decency that made people feel seen and valued.
Bernard was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Jakubowski, father Francis Jakubowski, brother Dennis Jakubowski, and sons Kevin and Jeff Jakubowski.
Bernard is survived by his granddaughter Mary Andrade, grandson Eric Young, seven great-grandchildren, daughters Kathy and Kelly Jakubowski, sister Charlene Lyford, and niece Eva Lyford.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 9:30 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
