October 8, 1927 – February 9, 2024
Beryl Elaine Myers Conway passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, February 9, 2024.
She was born on Saturday, October 8, 1927, in Orange, Texas, to Henry Carl and Oscar Olivia
(Poole) Myers. In this family she had three brothers and two sisters. She was the last surviving
member.
Her family heritage traces back through the well-known families of not just Myers and Poole, but also
Bland and Pattillo. Probably the most noted connection was to her grandfather, Oscar Poole, who
was at the center of the infamous “Poole Brothers incident” in Orange, 1899.
She grew up in Orange, but later met a pilot, Judson Conway, Jr., who would fly over her home and
dip the wing of the plane to wave to her. They were married 68 years until J.T.’s death in 2016.
They made their home in Houston, and raised a family of two sons and two daughters. Throughout
the years she remained a homemaker, enjoying the children and their families, as well as her
continued relationships with her siblings and in-laws.
Elaine is predeceased by her parents, husband, son-in-law Robert Spivey, her sisters Pearl Burgess
Stanfield and Kathleen Long, and her brothers Earl, Carlton, and Marvin Myers. She is survived by
Truett and Kathy Conway, Brenda Spivey, Cynthia and Bob Biester, and Bret and Vicki Conway. She
is also survived by ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She enjoyed cooking. She enjoyed gardening. She loved animals, especially dogs and birds. And
she loved clocks.
But, most of all, she loved her family. She will always be fondly remembered, and most certainly will
be greatly missed
A visitation for Beryl will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, followed by a graveside service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
