She was born in Houston, Texas on November 9, 1936 to Simon Peter Jones and Mary Evelyn Bond. She was married to Ben Blackledge for 28 years. Joann worked beside Ben managing hotels, grocery stores, warehouses, and real estate. She was a member of the Kemah Park board and had a passion for her yard, gambling, city politics, and any type of kids parties at the park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Blackledge, daughter, Shiela A. Collinsworth, father, Simon P. Jones, mother, Mary E. Bond Jones, two brothers, Jesse M. Jones, Harold Jones, three sisters, Juanita Brown, Pattie J. Jackson, and Barbara Lawrence.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy A. Jones of Minerva, Texas, Cynthia K. Williams and her husband Banjo R. Williams of Cameron, Texas, five grandchildren, Chad Jones, Chandal Franger, Brian K. Collinsworth, Gregory A. Collinsworth, Shaunna Dickinson, thirteen great grandchildren, niece, Cheryl Back Weisinger, Nephew Jesse Smith as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
