11/03/29 - 10/29/25
Betty joined her husband, Sonny and her parents and brothers in eternal life on October 29, 2025. Born in Beaumont, Texas, on November 3, 1929, to William Hanks and Bessie (Penn) Hanks, Betty grew up in Houston and attended Jeff Davis High School. She married S.P. (Sonny) Keeton in 1946 and they resided in Houston for 43 years until they made the move to the 'Burbs' in 1971 to Pearland, Texas, where Betty lived until her passing. Betty's working career spanned 42 years. She worked as the Executive Secretary for two VP's at Schlumberger and after retiring from there,
she went back to work for the City Attorney of Pearland. Betty was a hard worker and was known for her attention to details and organizational skills. After a second retirement, Betty went back to work, but this time for fun. She went to work at the Smart Shop in Pearland, where she made many wonderful friends and was absolutely in her element around all those beautiful clothes.
Betty was preceded in death by husband, Sonny and her parents, Bill and Bessie and her brothers, Charles and George. She is survived by daughter, Priscilla Hofstetter (Bill), sons, William (Bill) Keeton and Russell T. Keeton. She also leaves four grandchildren, Bryan Jones (Kim), Conrad Keeton (Jenna), Sydney Keeton and Blaire Chronister (Drew). Also, five great-grands, Cody, Kaylin and Karly Jones and Navy Keeton and Quinn Chronister. And one great-great grandson, Asher Jones.
The family wishes to thank Laurel Court Care in Alvin and Elysian Hospice for their kind care during Betty's stay. Also, the family wishes to thank the family of our friend, Doyle Granad, for sharing him with Betty for many years of wonderful companionship and making her part of their family. And a special thanks to Nancy Weisner and all the 'girls' at the Smart Shop for being the best long-time friends.
Betty will be deeply missed by family and friends, but her legacy of love, hard work and dedication will live on in the hearts of all
who knew her. Rest well, Mama.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, on November 5, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
