Bill Robertson, age 86 passed away July 12, 2019, at his home in Houston after a long battle with cancer. He was born on July 4,1933, in Carney, Oklahoma to Jessie and Myrtle Robertson. He was the youngest of seven children.
He grew up in Carney, graduated from Carney High School, and spent two years in the Army. On completion of his Army service he went to work at Tinker Air force base in Oklahoma City and earned an associate degree at Oklahoma City University. In September of 1968, the family moved to Houston where Bill accepted a job with NASA Johnson Space Center. He worked in Quality Assurance and was Flight Engineer on the KC-135 Zero – G aircraft, flying until he retired in 1999.
He completed 45 years of government service, with 35 of those years at NASA. Bill was a Scoutmaster for Clear Lake Methodist Troop 848. He was also an active member of The Galveston Monster Shark Fisherman’s Club. Bill’s hobbies were boating, fishing, and woodworking.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; five sisters, Zola Biles, Daisy Gates, Clella Campbell, Illa Hughart, Ethelyn Robertson; and one brother, Robert Robertson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joy; one son, David Robertson; daughter, Carrie Robertson; and grandson Michael Robertson; along with several nieces and nephews.
