

On January 1st, 2013, at the age of 49, Blanca Elida Lucio-Campos went to be with the Lord after a faith filled fight with metastatic breast cancer. Blanca was born in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico and became a resident of the United States in 1975. She graduated from Texas Southern University in 1990 with a Bachelors of Arts in Bilingual Education. Upon graduation, she became a 1st grade teacher at Brookline Elementary, located in the Southside of Houston, in 1991. She would continue to teach 1st grade at Brookline for over 20 years.
She is survived by her two children Pablo Antonio Campos & Vianett Guadalupe Campos, her mother Delia Lucio, sisters Mirna Cervantes & Diana Lucio-Ruiz, brother Antonio Lucio and brother in law, Robert J Ruiz. Her nieces include Jessica Cervantes & Stephanie Ruiz and her nephews include Daniel Cervantes, Andres Cervantes, Robert Ruiz Jr. and Christian Ruiz. She is also remembered by other family members in Mexico and many friends & colleagues.
As an educator, Blanca touched the lives of many children and their families. Blanca was a fighter and never let adversity get her down. Her faith in the Lord grew even stronger after the loss of her husband Juan Pablo Campos in 2008 and her diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer in 2001. She openly talked and shared her love for Jesus Christ and always talked about how the Lord gave her the courage to keep moving forward. She attended Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.
Blanca enjoyed spending time with her kids & mom and long talks with her fellow colleagues. She enjoyed sharing her experiences and advice with her nieces & nephews. On the weekends, she enjoyed listening to Christian music on her stereo and various television shows.
Blanca leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, commitment, and Faith. Always in our Hearts……
