

Bobbie J. Childs, 81 passed away at Memorial Hermann Hospital on July 21, 2013 as a result of injuries incurred in a car wreck earlier that day. She was a greatly beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
She was born March 5, 1932 in Leon County near Jewett, Texas to parents Wiley and Eva Lummus. She later moved to Teague and attended high school there. Bobbie was a person of many talents-as a painter with a large number of paintings displayed in many homes, she made many beautiful crochet and afghan items which are displayed in many homes as well and was a seamstress of great talent. She loved playing bridge and other card games, and loved to travel making many visits to choice locations in the U.S., Hawaii, Canada and the Caribbean. She attended Lutheran Church services for many years.
Bobbie is survived by her loving husband, Albert Sidney Childs of Houston, of over 63 years of marriage; daughter Sylvia Meek of Houston; daughter Gail Burnett and husband James of Austin; son Tommy Jay Childs and wife Elizabeth and their daughter Katelyn of Manvel. Grandson Christopher Meek of Houston and granddaughter Lisa Richardson and her sons Tyler and Blaine of Pearland; Marci Camara and husband Casey and their son Cooper of Pearland; Brigett Yurtass-Childs and son Jaydan of Needville. She leaves behind one sister Shirley Redding of Houston. Bobbie was preceded in death by Grandson Austin Jay Childs.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013, at 10:00 am with interment to follow.
