Bobby Ann Parsons French Peiffer passed away on June 25, 2024 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 2, 1934 and was adopted by Cleo Bell Parsons and Robert Edward Parsons. Her mother and stepfather, Calvin Ralph French, moved Bobby Ann to Houston when she was a small child. Bobby Ann graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in 1952 and continued her education at the University of Texas at Austin, where she was an active member of the Delta Zeta sorority. On Valentine’s Day 1953, she met Jack Steven Peiffer on a blind date. They were married on October 10, 1953. Jack and Bobby Ann returned to Houston’s East End in 1961 where they raised their three sons: Michael, Matthew, and Travis.
Bobby Ann began her career working for her friend Ralph Reece at National Soils Services, managing the office, and producing engineering reports. After her time in the workforce, Bobby Ann began dedicating herself to the community and education system by volunteering at public schools in the area. She served as Hospitality Chair for Park Place Elementary School PTA for one year and as President for the following two years. During this time, she formed lasting friendships with a group of dynamic, productive, and fun women. These same friends supported her when she was appointed to fulfill an unexpired term on the Board of Trustees for Houston ISD and Houston Community College. To secure her re-election for two additional terms, Bobby Ann and her supporters walked blocks to meet community members, placed door hangers, and made phone calls for her campaigns. After leaving the Board of Trustees, she began volunteering at Interfaith Ministries, where she was later hired as the office manager, a position she held for several years.
Additionally, Bobby Ann was a devoted member of the church, first serving as a deacon at Trinity Presbyterian Church and later as an active member at Bering Memorial UCC.
Bobby Ann adored her family and took great pride in spending time with her granddaughters: Charlotte, Bonnie, and Lauren, and her extended family, including granddaughter Karen Renfro and grandsons Houston Putman IV, Alexander Putman, and Curtis Lokey. She was a woman of intellectual curiosity and was known to be an avid reader. Bobby Ann loved to travel, embarking on numerous trips both domestic and abroad. She was a lover of people, and people loved her in return, as her genuine warmth and compassion were the hallmarks of her personality. She was known for her sense of humor and her ability to weave a good tale. She will be deeply missed.
Bobby Ann is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Michael and Barbara Peiffer, Matthew and Pamela Peiffer, and Travis Peiffer and Mark Albright. She is also survived by her grandchildren, their spouses, and their children: Charlotte and Eduardo Garza, and their children Mauricio, Georgina, and Beatrice; Bonnie and Jeff McCarty, and their children Willa and Emily; Lauren Peiffer; Houston Putman IV; Alexander Putman; Karen Renfro, Brian Durbec, Sam Kielwein, and Nicole Kielwein; and Curtis Lokey.
