Bobby Joe Wilson

B.J. was born on March 16, 1938, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to Larkin and Jennie Wilson. He spent his life serving others, enjoying the outdoors, and making lasting memories with his family and friends.

B.J. proudly served with the Houston Fire Department for more than 30 years. He began his career on September 1, 1959, and retired on September 10, 1989, as an Engine Operator with Cascade 23A. He was proud of these years with the department and the lifelong friendships he made during his career.

When he wasn't working, B.J. enjoyed many of the things that brought him the greatest happiness. He was a loyal Houston Astros fan and rarely missed a game. He loved hunting, fishing, driving, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed listening to and singing classic country music and never passed up the chance to watch a good thunderstorm. Family and friends knew him as the unofficial family weatherman because of his fascination with the weather.

B.J. was also a proud member of Walter Pierson Masonic Lodge #1339 and valued the friendships and fellowship he found there.

Above all, B.J. loved his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in watching his family grow through the years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Angie Wilson, and by is parents, Larkin and Jennie Wilson.

He is survived by his sons, Richard Wilson and wife, Kim, and David Wilson and wife, Holly; his grandchildren, Desiree Benson and husband, Marshal, Aimee Mittelsted and husband, Dewayne, Kayla Smith and husband, John, Harley David Wilson, and JC Henry; His great-grandchildren, Taegan, Daxton, Jayden, Ryler, Matthew, and Kenneth; his sister, Patsy Daughdrill; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Paige Taylor, North Star Hospice, and staff at Brookdale Senior Living for the compassionate care and support they provided to B.J. and his family.

B.J. will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his years of service to the Houston Fire Department, his love of the outdoors, and the many good memories he created with those who knew him.
