

Charles Alston Parker was born in Herman Hospital in Houston, TX on April 9, 1929 to James Batsey Parker and Eva Worsey Bowen. Due to the passing of his mother at the age of 2, Charles was raised by an aunt, Hattie Shipman. Charles attended elementary school in both Dayton and Manvel TX and attended Junior and Senior High in Alvin TX. Starting work at a young age, Charles worked at numerous local dairies, service stations, and restaurants in the area. He left school in the eleventh grade to work at the Monsanto Plant after the explosion in 1947. Having a desire to finish his education, Charles joined the U.S. Navy in 1948. He proudly served in the Korean War during his enlistment.
Returning to his hometown of Houston and while working at Elect Motor Repair, He met and married Adele Irene Lorenz in 1953. She would become the love of his life for 62 years. He enrolled in I.B.E.W. Local 716 Electrical Union, where he has continued to be an active member for almost 60 years.
They were blessed with the birth of a daughter in 1961 and adopted their second child in 1966.
Retiring at the age of 63, Charles continued to stay busy working at the Lutheran High School until he was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.
Charles had a love for hunting, boxing, guns and working in his garage fixing anything that was broke. He was a proud lifetime member of the NRA and strongly supported the 2nd amendment. He was an amazing provider, husband, father, Papo and friend. He loved his family, his country and God.
At 86 years old, Charles was the longest living member of the Parker generation and was honored at a recent family reunion by his loved ones.
On March 27, 2016 Charles was peacefully called Home to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his family.
He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father. He is survived, by His wife Adele Irene Parker, His daughters Darlene Parker Bowlin & husband Jim, Marlinda Parker Merryman & husband Robert, granddaughters Ashley Shaw & husband Rob, Brittany Matlock & husband Jared, Jamie Bowlin, 7 great grandchildren, Devon, Lilly, Jaxon, Kylie, Wyatt, John & Rhett and numerous extended family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Charles' Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church with interment to immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
