Christine Chin-Mei Chen Lee was born on October 30, 1950 in Taipei Taiwan to father, Mr. 陳根心and mother, Mrs 陳李玉柳. She was the eldest of 5 with 3 younger brothers and one younger sister. Christine had an obedient spirit and possessed maturity beyond her age. She was a diligent student. Her high national standard test scores placed her in the number one ranked schools, from Taipei Municipal Girls’ Junior High, to Taipei First Girls’ High school and to National Taiwan University.

Christine and Joseph met when she was in college. They were married after her graduation in 1973. She came with Joseph to the United States to pursue graduate studies, in 1978 received a PhD in Biology from the University of Toledo in Ohio.

In 1979, their son, Edward, was born. Afterwards, Christine began teaching at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During her 16 year tenure, she was deeply loved and respected by both students and faculty. In addition to her busy career and home life, Christine and Joseph were actively involved in church Sunday School, community caring and personal evangelism. They were founders of the Tulsa Chinese Christian Church establishment in 1982.

In 1995, Joseph’s position was transferred from research with Amoco in Tulsa, Oklahoma to engineering in Houston. Christine resolutely resigned from her post with the University, followed Joseph and moved the whole family to Houston Clear Lake area. Once settled down, being an eager learner, she studied and received a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She then worked as a manager at JP Morgan Chase for 10 years before retiring.

Ever since their move to this area, Christine tirelessly participated in Clear Lake Chinese Church ministries. For more than 2 decades, she served with unwavering enthusiasm in various ministries including Sunday School, caring, evangelism, Senior Fellowship and Women’s World Ministry. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful mother-in-law and a doting grand-mom to Winston.

Most of all, she was a God-fearing Christian, who sincerely cared for the spiritual needs of many brothers and sisters. She loved God and loved people. Even on her sick bed, she remained steadfast in intercessory prayers for many, named them before the Lord one by one, overflowed with faith, believing the Lord listens and answers prevailing prayers. She rests in the Heavenly Father’s arms as of April 5, 2019.

Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas, 77598, on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

民雄大哥,我是孟訓! This morning I heard the sad news from Maria of the passing of 清美姐! I’m really sadden by the news!
清美姐 was a very caring lady with kind heart! I remember her as a big sister with few words but love in action!
One time during the pastor appreciation dinner in Tulsa, knowing full well that it’s “too expensive” for students like me to pay, she paid on behalf not only me but other students as well!
Before I depart to San Jose for my job search, 清美姐packed a big bag of foods for me for the journey!! I truly appreciate the kindness and that impacted me in my understanding of God’s love!
Please take good care of yourself and I pray that our God will strength and comfort you and Edward in this difficult time!

Joseph,
Cheryl and I send our condolences at the passing of Christine. It is clear from her obituary that her defining characteristic was her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. We join with you as you mourn your loss and at the same time celebrate her life of purpose as she attains her victory. We can imagine hearing the Lord saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord." No doubt, her influence lives on in untold ways. We pray for your peace and comfort.
Blessings,
Mike Brown

Dear Joseph and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your (an our) beloved Christine's passing. I lost my wife to this dreadful disease last August and I know how hard this is on you all. I worked with Christine at JPM Chase for many years and she was so very intelligent and always cheerful and helpful. It was a sad day for me when she left the bank. It's a sad day now for us all who knew her and loved her. Happily, we all know she is with Jesus in Heaven, with no pain and filled with nothing but love. God bless you, your family and, of course, Christine. I will pray for you all.
Most sincerely sorry,
Bruce

Dear Joseph, Ed, Thuy and Winston,

Thank you for sharing Christine with us. We are deeply sadden by your loss for she was a shining light in our community. We are only comforted by the fact that she is now in a better place with her Heavenly Father.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55: 8-9.
While we struggle and mourn her loss, we know that God has a plan for all of us, to hopefully continue to do God's work as Christine had done.
We pray for all of you during this difficult time that God will uphold you and is carrying you through.

In Him,
Stephen, JoAnn, Rebecca Pham
