Daniel E. Garcia passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, at the age of 85 in Dickinson, Texas. Daniel was born on December 11, 1940, in Cerritos, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Lino Luciano Garcia and Cecilia Escalante. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Anselmo, Isaac, Juan, Alicia, Amparo, Maria de Jesus, Juana, Beatrice, Ezequiel, Paulina, Rosa, and Marina; his daughter-in-law, Diana Cantu; and his beloved granddaughter, Alyssa Nicole Cantu, affectionately known as “Lulu.”

Daniel is survived by his wife, Paulina B. Garcia, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories, family, and love. He is also survived by his sons: Charlie Cantu and his wife, Peggy, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Herb Cantu of Grapeland, Texas; Arthur Cantu and his wife, Katherine, of League City, Texas; Larry Cantu of Dickinson, Texas; Daniel Garcia Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Dickinson, Texas; Johnny Garcia and his wife, Erika, of Dickinson, Texas; and Jesus (Chuy) Garcia and his wife, Katy, of Richmond, Texas.

He is also survived by his beloved daughters: Jovita Cantu of Friendswood, Texas; Diana Nuñez and her husband, Evaristo, of Texas City, Texas; and Angelita (Chechi) Jackson and her husband, Adrian, of Dickinson, Texas.

One of Daniel’s greatest joys was being there for his grandchildren. He loved attending every game, play, graduation, and activity in which they participated. Whether he was sitting in the stands, cheering them on, or simply being present, Daniel was their biggest supporter. His presence was a testament to how deeply he loved his family.

Great-Grandchildren

His love and legacy will also live on through his great-grandchildren: Abrianna, Kaylee, Luke, Jacob, Isaac, Chelsea, JD, Diana, Emma, Layla, Charlie, Haven, Ellerie, Lila, Henry, Bella, and Ethan.

Daniel also leaves behind a beloved chosen family, including Maria Elena, Maria, Mario, Lorie, Gracie, and Christian, who held special places in his heart and were loved as family.

Daniel is also survived by his brother-in-law, Leonardo E. Longoria of McAllen, Texas, as well as many cherished nephews, nieces, and friends, including his oldest and dearest friend, Cato Castillo. Each held a special place in his heart, and he was grateful for the love, laughter, companionship, and memories they shared throughout his life.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank-you to his stepdaughter, Rebecca Massiatte, for the love, care, and support she gave to Daniel and her stepmother, Paulina. Her kindness will forever be cherished by the family.

Though Daniel is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and all those who were blessed to know him. Rest peacefully, Daniel. Your family will continue to carry your love, your memory, and your legacy in their hearts forever.
