David had a career in tattooing and body piercing and owned 7 shops in the Augusta, Georgia area. He served his country and retired from the United States Army. He was a 32nd degree mason. David had a passion for building and riding motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by father, James W Bates; mother, Hazel L Hair Altman.
He is survived by daughter, Kaila Shea Bates; son, Gage William Bates; sister, Carol Poulis and husband Nick of Houston, Texas; nephew, Richard Poulis and wife Dora and their children Ava and Noah; niece, Polly Bynum.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. David will be laid to rest in the Forest Park Cemetery.
