David Wayne Durham

David Wayne Durham was born on April 21, 1958 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was moved to Houston, Texas by his parents Johnny Lee and Gladys Jane Durham at the young age of 7. He was brought up in a home filled with laughter and unconditional love. David supported himself and his son Jeremy Johnson by working at Weiser Security Services, Inc, where he was well liked and appreciated for his hard work and devotion to his job as a Security Guard.

He liked working in his garden and growing various vegetables. He especially liked growing his red ripe tomato that his mom always enjoyed eating with salt and pepper. When he was not working, he loved to watch football and basketball. During the times that he was not watching sports, he enjoyed going fishing. David knew how much his mother loved her flower garden, so he would take her shopping for flowers, and would often surprise her by purchasing flowers and various shrubs. His special joy was his son Jeremy and his grandson Shakori. David always maintained a close loving relationship with his son’s mom, Angel Johnson.

David leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jeremy Johnson; grandson, Shakori Johnson; Jeremy’s mother, Angel Johnson; sister, Shelia Malveaux; uncle Raphael Redmond; nieces, Sheena Smith and Shantel Malveaux; great nephew, Reginald Smith III; great niece, Ari Smith; as well as a host of cousins and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Jane Durham and Johnny Lee Durham; grandparents Robert and Stella Redmond; aunt Mary Ellen Redmond; uncles Jimmy Ray, Donald Ray, and Joseph Redmond, and brother-in-law Patrick Malveaux.

A visitation for David will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas with a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. and committal to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Reception to follow committal service.
