Dawn Marie George

Dawn was the only daughter of Wilmer “Bill” Deetz and Corrine (Bertucci) Gant. She was born Monday, May 8, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2002 Dawn met Clement “Doc” George at a wine tasting in Pittsburgh, they were married on August 1, 2006 on the beach in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Dawn was raised and began her education in Pennsylvania, she graduated from Archbishop John Carroll High School in 1990—but the Scholar did not stop there. Dawn earned her Undergraduate degree in English from Old Dominion University, a Law degree from Duquesne University, an MBA from Santa Barbara Business College and, in May 2022, Dawn graduated with a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Angelo State University. In 2004, Dawn gave birth to Macclem, the night before her first year of law school. In 2007, two weeks after law school graduation, Dawn gave birth to Julia. With the newborn Julia at hand, Dawn studied and passed the (UBE) Uniform Bar Exam in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She and Doc shared a drive for enlightenment, they would share their mornings drinking coffee together and discussing their kids, camping and many academic, legal and political topics.

In 2007, Dawn and her family relocated from Pittsburgh to the Houston area. She was most recently operating as the Director of Online Services at California Aeronautical University. Dawn had a great fondness for the outdoors, she and her family would try to go camping at least once a month. They had camped all over Texas, in Louisiana, and Colorado. She was a Female Scout Master for the all-girl, girl-led Troop #1965 and an Eagle Mentor for Troop #870. Dawn was an exceptional student, mother, partner, daughter, and friend; she will be missed in ways that not even words can understand.

She is survived by her husband, Clement “Doc” George; her children Macclem “Mackey” George (17), Julia George (15), and Tiberius “Ty” George (12); parents Bill Gant and Corrine Gant; and one brother Billy (Lorraine) Gant.

A Celebration of Dawn’s Life will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Forest Park East Funeral Home.
