Diane Kay (DK) Schimnowski was born in Windom, Minnesota with her twin brother Darrel on April 12, 1950 to Carol and Kenneth Schimnowski. At about three her family moved to Luverne, Minnesota where she spent her elementary years.
In 1962 the family relocated to Pasadena, Texas. She attended Southmore Junior High and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1968. After a short stay working for Phillips, she began working at Mitsubishi, where she performed functions from forklift driver to secretary and photographer. Photography also became a favorite hobby. Diane lived in locations in Houston, Katy, and finally Deer Park.
Though never married Diane developed many friendships after joining the Omega Nu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in 1972. In 2009 she joined Laureate Psi receiving the Silver Circle Ritual and Preceptor in 2014 and 2015, respectively. As a 50-year member, Diane was recently honored with the Golden Circle for her steadfast devotion to the virtues of Beta Sigma Phi. While active she held several offices and chaired many committees.
Her favorite was the Scrapbook Committee, which allowed her to share her creativity. Over her 50 years many have been fortunate to experience her fun and playful soul. Diane was unique, creative, fun living, and embraced life.
Diane's parents and brother preceded her in death, as did her beloved pets Tuffy, Pebbles, and Sofee.
She is survived by brother Kenneth and his wife Cristina of Denison, Texas, nieces Amanda and husband Jeffrey of Seabrook, Texas, Melissa Elliott and husband Eric of Whitesboro, Texas, Cassandra Reeve and wife Tanisha of Weatherford, Texas, and LaFonda Ledger and husband Chris of Henderson, Texas.
