Donald Lackey, 92, of Conroe, TX passed away on May 30, 2026. Born October 4, 1933, in Houston, TX, Donald lived a life marked by steady devotion, a strong work ethic, and a deep commitment to family. Through the years, he earned the respect of those who knew him for the way he showed up—reliably, thoughtfully, and with care for the people he loved.
Donald built his working life as a machinist for Southern Pacific Railroad and Anheuser-Busch Company, a role that reflected the diligence and pride he brought to his responsibilities. His dedication was not only evident in his career, but also in the constancy with which he supported and provided for his family.
Donald was married to the love of his life, Joyce Davis Lackey for 68 years. Together, they shared a life shaped by partnership and loyalty, and they embraced the joy of seeing the world side by side—traveling to many different countries and all 50 states.
He also carried a lasting passion for motorcycles. In a fitting tribute to a life lived with purpose and heart, he took his final ride to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Donald was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Joyce Davis Lackey: his parents, Steve and Ogle Lackey; and his brother, Steve Lackey Jr.
He is survived by his sons, Reese Lackey (Greg), Mark Lackey (Denise), and Craig Lackey; his daughter, Karen Hoop (Kemp). His grandchildren, Brittney, Marcus, Heather, Chase, Seth, Camdyn, Adam and Caroline; and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, on June 8, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. Funeral service will follow from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with committal from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
