Donna Harrison Upchurch, 68, beloved wife, mother, sister, and teacher passed away suddenly on October 22, 2023, at her home in Friendswood, Texas. Although born in Abilene, Texas, Donna spent her childhood and attended school in Pasadena, Texas.
Donna retired last year after working for the Pasadena Independent School District for 38 years. She started her teaching career working at two different Junior High campuses, but most of her time was spent teaching at Pasadena High School where she attended as a student.
Donna was a popular and admired teacher, always going beyond her duty professionally and personally for her students. She was extraordinarily kindhearted and affectionate, and thought of her students as “her kids.”
To say Donna was an animal lover would be an understatement. Her pets were family, literally. She also was an avid professional and colligate sports fan, and always decorated her yard in support of the playoffs for her teams. She seldom missed a Houston Astros or University of Texas football game. Of course, she had a special place in her heart for her alma mater, the University of Houston, and its sports programs.
Donna adored her family and was immensely proud of her beloved father, the Honorable John Ray Harrison, who was an attorney, Pasadena Mayor and State District Judge. Her kindness and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Greg Upchurch, her son, Ryan, her mother, Barbara Harrison, mother-in-law Betty Everette (Robert), six siblings, and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation for Donna will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas 77598. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 30, 2023, 2:30 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598
