July 15, 1926 – November 6, 2018
Dorothy (Dottie) Hendricks was born to Claude and Myrtle Hendricks in Panama Oklahoma on July 15th, 1926. She was the oldest of 3 children, her sister Marie who remained her lifelong friend and her brother Bill. The family moved to Conroe during the oil boom and eventually settled in Houston. In 1948 she married William Kaleel who she met through Marie and her husband Louis. He just happened to be Louis brother, so the sisters married brothers which further entwined their lifelong bond, often calling each other 2 or 3 times a day, just to chat or share something they found interesting.
Dottie and Willie had 2 children, Brad who preceded her in death and her daughter Connie who became her caregiver and companion after Willie died in 2000. She had one grandson Blake, who she totally adored, so much so she adopted his dog Diesel when Blake couldn’t keep him.
An accomplished bowler, Dottie was one of the first women in Texas to bowl a “300” game. She loved life and had many dear friends through the years, playing cards and dominoes. There was always something to eat, even if you weren’t hungry. She never passed up the chance for an adventure. Throughout her life Dottie was upbeat and full of life. She was always interested in others and how they where doing even with her own failing health. Diabetes took her eye sight but not her spirit and sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter Connie, her grandson Blake, sister Marie and brother Bill and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly
