Mrs. Koonce was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Paul Koonce. She is survived by her children, son - James Koonce and wife Charlene, daughter – Deborah Rawls and husband Clint, one sister – Gerrie Gause and her husband James. 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a full time homemaker while raising her children and did not begin working until her daughter was a senior in high school. She began working for Weingartens Grocers and worked for them for many years until they were bought out by Gerlands. She continued working at Gerlands until she retired.
After retirement she and her husband bought a motor home and began traveling with a group known as the “Slow Poke Sams”.
Mother loved to travel and see new places. She and her husband took many long vacations and saw most of the United States. They traveled with her mother and father and her sister. They never made it to Alaska or Hawaii because she was terrified of flying. She and her husband shared a love of Country Western music and dancing. I’m sure they are once again two-stepping in heaven.
