Douglas Alan Boily was born in Merrick, New York on July 7, 1949. He attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a degree in Communications in 1971. Douglas continued to love his Alma Mater and the Appalachian Mountains for the rest of his life. Discovering theatre as a new passion, Doug participated in the program at App State. While in Boone, he met his first wife Deborah Huye Boily, to which he was married for 25 years. Doug met his second wife, Jerilee Woods Boily, in 1992 when they found themselves working together. In 1995 their lives were changed forever when their daughter Lillian Irene Boily was born. Douglas was in the control valve business for most of his adult life and was working for Richards Industrials out of Cincinnati, Ohio at the time of his passing. He had been with Richards for 20 years.
Doug enjoyed traveling with loved ones, good food, wine, and a fine single malt scotch. He enjoyed reading the newspaper every morning with a hot cup of coffee and some sort of starchy breakfast. Doug loved to read, the theatre, the Turner Classic Movie Channel (specifically old westerns, which he knew all the names of), golf, Formula 1 Racing, Football, and an appreciation for a wide variety of music.
There will be a celebration of life in the beginning of November. If you would like information on this event, please feel free to reach out to Jerilee Boily at [email protected]. She will do the best she can to accommodate your desire to be present, considering the size of the space. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
