

Doyle R. Murphree, Sr. won his battle with cancer on November 11, 2012. He is now rejoicing with the angels joining his mother and father, three brothers, three sisters, Michael Smith and daughter Bonnie all proceeded him in death.
Mr. Murphree was born on December 18, 1931 in Calhoun County Mississippi. Leaving at the age of 17, he lived his remaining life in Texas, sixty plus years in Galveston County.
After his retirement from the U.S. Corps of Engineers in 1972, Mr. Murphree founded Hitchcock Plumbing, which served the area for several years. It was during that time Mr. Murphree found his true passion, building new homes as well as remodeling older ones.
Mr. Murphree is survived by former wife of 44 years, Elaine, daughter Doylene Conley of Texas City, son Doyle Jr. and wife Dolly of Alvin and daughter Marti Kennedy and husband Keith of Dickinson, Randy Smith and wife Amy, Corliss Smith Bennett and husband Charlie, grandchildren Jennifer Murphree, Tyler Kennedy, Austin Kennedy, Rachel Murphree, Amber Smith Yokum and husband John, Erin Smith Fulcher, Beau Smith and wife Melody, great grandchildren Krysten Yokum, Caitlyn Yokum, Camryn Smith, Kade Smith, Amilyn Fulcher and Melaina Fulcher, sister Jessie Lloyd of LaMarque, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Murphree was a member of Bay Area First Baptist Church of League City and a member of John Mitchell Masonic Lodge in Hitchcock.
The family would like to thank members of Bay Area First Baptist Church of League City and College View Baptist of Texas City and a host of friends for their prayers, love and support.
