Dwane was born on October 9, 1943 in Pasadena, TX to Jimmy and Verda Sample. Dwane was raised in Humble Camp in the Genoa area.
He graduated from South Houston High School and attended the University of Houston.
Dwane loved hunting and spent many mornings in West Texas chasing that elusive white-tail. He had a passion for travel and history but some of his best memories were made sitting in the Frio River in Concan, TX surrounded by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jimmy and Verda sample; brother; Bobby Sample and sister; Louise Collier.
Dwane is survived by his children; daughter; Andrea Vick and husband John, son; Brian Sample and wife Tracy, granddaughters; Hannah Sample, Erin Sample, and Lillee Vick, Stepdaughters’ Teena Thompson and husband Michael; children Tamara, Tiffanie, Tyler and Tanya Smith and husband Tim; children; Travis and Tessa, nephews; Dirk Sample, Brent Sample, and Rob Green, nieces; Deanna Martiner, Shelly Hunter, Laurie Potter, and Stacey Harsey, along with numerous other family members and friends.
