RIP, dear Ellen… I will keep fond memories of our goooooood times way back when…..

Ellen was a loving mother and a fabulous Aunt.  She lived in Texas but made it out to NY every summer to spend with her family.  This will be the first summer without her and she will be missed so terribly. The times we spent at the cottage with her quirky sense of humor and smiles were wonderful.  Aunt Ellen, I will miss you so much.

Aunt Ellen, I spent every July looking forward to seeing you. The beginning of Summer will always make me think of you and miss you like crazy. I will miss laughing with you, our long talks, and enjoying food and wine filled lazy days at the cottage. I love you so much and am so grateful to have all my wonderful memories of you. You were an amazing mother, daughter, wife, friend, aunt, and sister to all of us lucky enough to be in your life.....much love- Kira

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Van Etten, but in our short text interactions, I was quickly able to tell how loving she was to my best friend, her son Nolan.  In my conversations with him in the days since this tragedy occurred, I am confident in the thought that her legacy will live on in Nolan.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that you are no longer with us ... we grew up so closely knit you were then and always were a beautiful person inside and out.  Cuz ... you will be missed.

Hard to match the sentiment in the beautifully written obituary but...

Ellen, I can't express in words how much I'll miss you. You were a loving sister right up until the end (Greg the Elder knows what I mean). Please do me one last favor, and give Ma & Dad my love.
